Hill House / Mill valley, California

Hill House - Mill Valley, California interior design

A peaceful escape overlooking San Francisco.

With a rare blend of assets — direct access to some of the country’s best hiking trails, sweeping views of downtown San Francisco, and a setting immersed in nature — this home truly has the best of all worlds.

When our clients purchased it, the house had already been through several remodels. While each had its charms, the most recent version didn’t reflect their youthful, fresh spirit. We pared back the heavier, more traditional elements to create a cleaner, more streamlined backdrop that lets the views take center stage. Though the overall design is refined, incorporating pieces from the family’s history brought meaning and depth. Color was used with restraint, in grounded earth tones, while contrast and texture became the driving forces that gave the home its warmth and character. Despite its generous footprint, the design cultivates a sense of peace and comfort — a welcome counterpoint to the demands of daily life.
